Media.ge, Tbilisi, 26 Apr 2009 – After a 12-hour search two employees of Rustavi 2, Giorgi Gabunia and Nika Gelashvili were found dead in the ruins of the building of the Star Academy joint project of Rustavi 2 TV-company and MagtiCom Mobile Communication Company.
Partial collapse of a five-story block of flats occurred on April 26, in early morning. There were 14 people in the building. Some of them were injured, others made a narrow escape. Two employees of Rustavi 2 who were working on the project were hospitalized; one of them, Tatuli Natroshvili was badly injured.
Experts haven’t yet established the cause of the tragedy. Investigation has been launched. Internews Foundation is greatly concerned over the tragedy and expresses its condolences to relatives and friends of the deceased, as well as to the whole staff of Rustavi 2 Television Company.
