Views from the seminar

CASCFEN, Baku, 01 August 2017 – The Central Asian and Southern Caucasian Freedom of Expression Network (CASCFEN) has conducted the last seminar in the framework of the project titled “Optimization of relations of education workers with media” in Baku.

The event was organized in the premises of the International Eurasia Press Fund and supported by the NGO Council of Azerbaijan. 40 participants have joined the seminar.

Azer Hasret, a chairman of CASCFEN thanking both organizations for support added that such state support for the people`s enlightenment is very effective.

Speaking on the theme Azer Hasret said that some people in Azerbaijan are misusing media.

“Most of those people, unfortunately, disturb education enterprises, schools frequently. They are unaware of media ethics. Usually they go to schools, force children to give an interview and afterwards using these interviews blackmail school managements”, – has said CASCFEN chairman.

Then editor of “Space” TV, CASCFEN Board member, Honored journalist Dr. Nushabe Huseynli explained the ways of more optimal interaction of school workers with mass media.

“The most important approach is that that you should not scare of journalists. Contrary, you should show enthusiasm to collaborate with them and answer their questions. Naturally this kind of interactions must be in line with laws and journalist ethics. If not so, you are free to ignore communication with a person who claims to be a journalist”, – said Nushabe Huseynli.

Nushabe Huseynli has added that in order to identify those misusing mass media one can apply to the Press Council.

Continuing the idea Azer Hasret noted that it would be enough to visit Press Council’s web site: “If you see that the name of a “journalist” applying to you is in that list you can ignore interaction with that person with no explanation”.

The seminar was followed by participants close involvement and certificates were submitted to participants.

We shall add that this seminar was the last one in the framework of the project. Before this likewise seminars were arranged in Baku, Kurdamir, Saatli and Khachmaz. More than 130 participants attended the seminars in total.
