CASCFEN has conducted a seminar in Kurdamir – Video

CASCFEN, Baku, 20.06.2017 – The Central Asian and Southern Caucasian Freedom of Expression Network (CASCFEN) has conducted one more seminar in the framework of the project titled “Optimization of relations of education workers with media”. The seminar, which was attended by 25 teachers, was conducted in Kurdamir city school No: 3.

The Principle of the school Bayram Jafarov welcoming the guests noted that the Government of Azerbaijan pays great contribution to the citizen`s enlightenment.

A chairman of CASCFEN and expert of the project Azer Hasret thanked the Azerbaijan state and State Council to Support NGOs under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

After giving brief information on the project the CASCFEN chair passed a floor to Sevda Asgarova, an expert of the project. S.Asgarova explained the rules and laws regarding media interaction of education workers.

An expert has given different samples on misuse of media opportunities by so-called journalists. She touched upon certain clauses of certain laws which can be used while interacting with media workers. She talked about media ethics, explained interaction rules with those media workers who violates the ethics.

At the end of her presentation S.Asgarova submitted to the Principle of school the “black list” of Azerbaijan Press Council.

Speaking afterwards an expert Azer Hasret has noted that misuse of media freedom provided by the state can`t be tolerated. He noted that the government of Azerbaijan pays more importance to self-regulation. But some people using this opportunity for personal benefits ignores journalism as a profession.

The seminar was followed with high activity of participant teachers. Teachers – Khayala Veyisova and Asbat Musayeva acting with speeches noted some problems in regard to media ethics and writing style. Other speakers also voiced various criticisms and proposals.

The certificates were submitted to participants at the end of the seminar.

We shall note that CASCFEN`s next seminars will be conducted in Saatli and Khachmaz regions.
